1839 Land Deed Between William R. Brock and Eli P. Brock

FamHist LibraryI’m back after spending 10 wonderful days with my son and his family just outside Ogden, Utah. Needless to say, I also spent some time in Salt Lake City at the Family History Library.

While there I found this land between between William R. Brock and Eli P. Brock. William and Eli are/were 1st cousin.1 William has been in Mississippi for some time arriving between his birth in Chesterfield in 1817 and their enumeration in the 1820 census for Hinds County, Mississippi.

Eli P. Brock remained in Chesterfield County and the surrounding area until about 1839. In 1827 he was witness to a deed between Benjamin Brock and James Brock (Anson County, NC Deed Book “W”, page 148).

Brock, W-148

I think this deed was executed about the time of Eli P. Brock’s arrival in Hinds County, Mississippi and his 1st Cousin is helping him get established and settled down in his new surroundings.
