Treasure Chest Thursday~Minutes of the Pleas and Proceeding of the Hinds County Probate Court

William Brock (1770-Jan 1844) moved his family from Chesterfield County, SC to Hinds County, Mississippi between 1817 and 1820.

His first wife, Charlotte  LNU (some say Farley) died between 1830 and 1840 and  William remarried on 1 September 1842 to Katherine Delilah Jordan. William and Charlotte had nine children; William  and Catherine had one son, Richard Johnson Brock.
I wrote about William and his family here:

William Brock died about January 1844. His probate record (#744) can be found on line at FamilySearch.org.1 His wife Catherine decline to accept responsibility for administering the estate and this task was assigned to his oldest son, Moses, the child of his first wife. Catherine decline stating that she was sick and unable to attend; it was just 2 years later that she passed away on 27 January 1846. Her death just after the death of her husband left Richard Johnson Brock an orphan less than 3 years of age.  William‘s estate remained active for some time providing support for his son, Richard Johnson Brock.
