It’s Family Time~David M. Huneycutt and his Family

It's Family Time
I have been amazed over the many years I have been researching families at the lack of public documentation (vital records) of birth, deaths and burials in most of the southern States. This family is another case of limited vital records.

David M. Huneycutt was born about 1828 in Montgomery County, North Carolina. He was the son of Marcus I. ‘Mark’ Huneycutt and Charity Dry. David had two older brothers, John Wiley and Tobias A. Huneycutt. In addition to these two brothers after his birth, David had two additional brothers and three sisters born into the family for a total of 9 siblings.

About 1847, David married Edith Underwood and they are found as a family with their daughter Sara  in the 1850 Census for Stanly County, North Carolina.

1850 CENSUS: Furrs, Stanly County, North Carolina; Roll: M432_645; Image: 82, Page: 38B(stamped); Line 9, Dwelling 538, Family 540; David HONEYCUTT, Male, age 22, born in NC; Eady HONEYCUTT, Female, age 22, born in NC and Sarah E. HONEYCUTT, Female, age 2, born in NC.

When the Civil War broke out in 1861 David was of age to serve in the War but I have found no record of his service, if he in fact did serve.

The children of David M. Huneycutt and Edith Underwood are:

David M. Huneycutt died after the 1880 Census enumeration and before the 1900 Census was recorded. His wife, Edith, can be found in he household of her son Joseph M. ‘Joe’ Huneycutt, in Anson County, North Carolina in 1900.

Note: I'm still trying to proved the surname of Edith, wife of David. I have found her listed as Edith Underwood and Edith Rowland. A lack of public document (vital records) is hampering this effort.
