Surname Saturday~Brock-White

Alexander Brock is my 2nd Great Granduncle. In almost 40 years of research I have learned very little about his life. He was born in 1818, a son of Benjamin Brock and his wife Temperance (LNU). He appears by name in only 3 censuses (1850-1860-1870) in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.1 2 3  His absence from the 1880 Census indicates he may have died between 1870 and 1880.

Alexander Brock and Timmrah White were married about 1843/44. This date is calculated based on the birth of their first child Elizabeth Brock in June 1845.

Timmrah White was born in 1824 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. 4 5 Her parents are unknown. She died about 1866 at the age of 42; mostly likely due to complication from childbirth of her last born child.

Alexander Brock and Timmrah White had the following children:
i. Elizabeth Brock was born in Jun 1845 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. 6 7 8 9 10 11 She died on 15 Feb 1921 at the age of 75 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
ii. Alexander Brock was born in Jun 1847 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. 12 13 14 15 Alexander was last found in the 1900 census.
iii. David Brock, born 1848, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Eliza Jane White, abt 1875, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; died 13 Mar 1919, Cheraw, Chesterfield, South Carolina. He is buried in Brock’s Cemetery. 16
iv. Ervin Samuel Brock Sr., born 18 Oct 1849, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Mary K. Proboff, abt 1875; married Harriett Boatwright, abt 1879; married Sarah Florence Newby, abt 1897, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; died 5 Oct 1931, Cheraw, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
v. John Brock was born in 1858 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. 17 18
vi. T. Brock was born in 1866 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. 19

Information had been found on only 3 of the six children; Elizabeth, David and Ervin Samuel Brock. The other three, Alexander, John and T. Brock are believed to have perished at a young age. No tombstones have been found for Elizabeth, Alexander, Ervin Samuel, Jr., John or T. Brock.

I’m still looking for information on this family. If you have information that you would like to share, please leave comments to this posting or alternately contact me through my e-mail listed on this blog.
